Fitness Saturdays—Do You Have a Routine?

Share

A daily routine is a great way to maintain good habits. And when you want fitness as a way of life, you must create an exercise habit.

But what happens when your routine gets thrown out of whack?

If you aren’t careful, a messed up routine can weaken a strong habit of exercise. How do you keep your exercise habit strong when your routine gets derailed?

The best answer is, “Just do something!” Do the exercises you can in the time you have available. Or make time and use available resources. The most important part of this is to realize that even a reduced workout is a workout, it’s still a step down the path of fitness, and it will help keep your habits strong!

So stop making excuses and stay on track. You’ll thank yourself later.

And if you’d like help creating a fitness lifestyle and a great exercise habit then check out Squires Fitness!

How to Develop Gratitude!

Share

Gratitude

Are You Grateful?

In the past there were times I felt I had no reason to be grateful. I felt like everything was going wrong, like I couldn’t do anything right. There are many problems with that type of thinking. One of the biggest is the self-defeating spiral it creates.

If you feel ungrateful, you notice things you’re ungrateful about. The more you notice things you feel ungrateful about, the more ungrateful you feel…

That’s a sad place to live.

But… When you feel grateful, you notice things you’re grateful about. Then you feel even more grateful. Then you notice even more that you’re grateful about and you feel more and more grateful!

That’s an Awesome Place to Live!

I’m very grateful I learned about the Power of Gratitude!

But what if your gratitude muscles are a weak? How do you develop them?

One of the best tools I’ve learned for strengthening gratitude is to keep a Gratitude Journal. It’s a quick and easy way to start noticing all of the great things in your life.

Just take a small notebook—any notebook will do—and before you go to bed at night write ten things you’re grateful for in your Gratitude Journal. It’s best when you write things that happened that day—that you’re grateful for—because it reminds you of the wonderful things happening in your life right now. But if you have to write something basic like; “I’m grateful that I have air to breathe.”  Or, “I’m grateful I have water to drink.” That’s OK too!

Start Where You Are and Build Those Gratitude Muscles!

When you Do This, you’ll notice a change in your perception of life. You’ll feel happier. You’ll be kinder. You’ll experience more abundance. Then you’ll wonder why you ever wasted time feeling ungrateful.

Sneak Peek at “Letters on Life”

Letters on Life

I’m currently working on my new Book, Letters on Life.

Update! The book title changed.

It’s now, The Pi of Life: Essential Truths for Creating Happiness, Wholeness, & Success.

Get a signed copy here: http://www.ThePiofLife.com/

If you’d like the Kindle version, click here!

Here’s an excerpt that I want to share with you.

“I feel striving is a poor choice of words for my new dream. I was growing. I am growing. I am moving forward toward a new tomorrow and toward my destination. But truly my destination is merely the next step toward my next step. There is no destination, it is an illusion designed to justify the growth necessary to reach the next beginning. Each destination is my next telephone pole and can be celebrated as a beautiful accomplishment just as each step and each breath can be celebrated as a destination and a beginning at the same time.”

Is Your Past an Anchor?

Share

Is your past an Anchor or a Rudder?

Is Your Past Holding You Back?

I was talking with some friends the other night and the topic of dealing with the past came up. Some people feel like the past is an anchor weighing them down. They feel the mistakes they’ve made define who they are.

I used to feel that way too.

The problem with that thinking is it gives away your power to make a difference in your life or anyone else’s. It places you square in the middle of the victim mentality because you allow yourself to become the victim of your past choices.

When a person fixates on their past, especially the mistakes they’ve made, their past becomes an anchor. Their progress stops and they sit frozen in a fluid world.

Instead of holding onto past mistakes and using them to punish yourself, use those mistakes as the rudder that keeps you on course. Use the mistakes as lessons—After all, you’re attending the University of Life. Look at them long enough to figure out what you must do differently in the future. Then look ahead again and do thing differently!

Armed with the knowledge you’ve gained you’ll avoid pitfalls you might otherwise fall into.

Realize this is true of little mistakes as well as huge ones. Many people allow small mistakes to pile up in their minds until they have a mountain of errors hanging over their heads. Shift your focus and that mountain becomes the climb leading to the amazing view of the future. Those mistakes become lessons and ultimately the building blocks of success.

Here are a few steps to help you get started:

  • Start by learning the lessons an event in the past holds for you.
  • Apply those lessons in your life.
  • Forgive others and forgive yourself.

So what are you going to do?

Your past is your past. It’s unchangeable, locked in the fabric of time. What you do with your past is completely up to you. I challenge you to change your focus, learn from your life, and get out there and do something wonderful!

You Are the Master of Your Destiny!

Happiness

Happiness through service

It’s no secret; few things in life bring more happiness than releasing your ego and helping others. So when I came across this Chinese Proverb the other day I immediately thought of you.

If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap.

If you want happiness for a day, go fishing.

If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune.

If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.

Like everything in life, happiness is a choice. You can choose to feel happy regardless of your circumstances. That might sound strange. But if you seek it, if you look, there is always a reason to find happiness because there is always something good in everything. I’ve also found that the happier I am, the more I have to give. The more I have to give, the happier I am. That’s a nice feedback loop to be in. 🙂

Choose to help others. You might be their light in the darkness. You may be their reason to give it another go. You might be the Miracle they need. Even something as simple as a kind word, when spoken to a person in need, can have life changing impact.

So make the choice today to have and share happiness and miracles with your life.
