Chances are you remember it clearly. I worked as a delivery driver and was at one of my morning stops, a gas station, when I looked over and saw a news flash on the TV. An unthinkable image met my eyes. One of the Twin Towers was smoking.
Horrified at the tragic image and wondering what was going on, I stood riveted to the floor and watched. I heard snippets of conversation around me and understanding slowly dawned. Someone had deliberately flown a plane into one of the Twin Towers!
Then the second tower was struck…
In that moment life changed for all of us, for the whole world but especially for Americans. We lived in varying degrees of shock over the next few weeks and months. Shock turned to outrage. Outrage led to action. For a time it brought the people of the USA closer together than they’d been in years.
Here we are. Ten years later. Many things have changed, some for the better, some not. But as a country the US survived. As a world we have survived.
Please give a moment of silent reverence today to the victims of 911, to their families, and to all the people this tragic act impacted.
Then go on living. Be the miracle you desire in this world!
You Are The Master of Your Destiny!
P.S. It’s now 9/11/2017. Sixteen years have passed. We, as a country, march on through the ever-changing present into the unknown. But we move with hope, with love, with passion for life. And as you travel this road called life, into the future called hope, remember to give a moment of gratitude for those who’ve fallen.
And from this day forward you may, if you choose decide to feel gratitude every day. Gratitude is such a simple thing. Often the simplest things have great power. Gratitude is one of those, a simple thing with enormous power. Use it.
