When to Double Down on Your Health and Fitness

Share

Why You Must Double Down on Your Health and Fitness!

I was taking to a good friend just a few minutes ago about the times when we feel like taking it easy or the times we feel like taking a break. And that reminded me of when I used to do bodyweight exercises all the time because with bodyweight exercise especially, as with all exercises and truly all areas of life, you can workout every day, doing the same exercise, if you want too. The trick is, you adjust your intensity every day. Someone who runs can run every single day. There are days when it makes sense to run harder, to push yourself more and there are days when it makes sense to be easier and have a relaxed, healing kind of a run.

Same thing with working out. There are times when you can blitz the bodypart(s) you’re working and there are times when you can take it easier. I worked legs really hard and have jelly-legs as I record this video. The weak feeling that anyone who works out really hard knows, when you have to grip the handrail for dear life when walking down stairs to keep from falling.

When you feel like taking a break, it's time to double sown on your health and fitness!

After that workout I decided to go have some nature time. I’m out here enjoying this gorgeous scene and I was talking to my friend on the phone and we were talking about how sometimes people say they want to take it easy. Coaching clients will say, “I just need to take a break.”

That’s When You’ve Got to Double Down!

When you feel like you need to take a break, that’s when you’ve got to double down because pushing through the resistance, that’s what’s going to help you bust out to the next level!

Pushing through those times where you’re thinking, “I just really don’t feel like it.” Or, “I don’t want to do it.” Or whatever other excuse your mind throws out at you… Those are the times you’ve got to completely and totally double down on it! Get your butt going where you need to go! Get yourself doing what you need to do! Find a way to push through it!

And pushing through it can be taking it easy in the sense that you are working out more gently than you would otherwise but you’re still there! You’re still showing up!

Showing Up Makes a Massive Difference!

Showing up makes a massive difference because showing up tells your unconscious mind how important it is for you to do what you’re doing!

When you show up on the days when you feel like skipping or during the months that maybe you feel like skipping, when you show up now, more and more during those times, you’re programming your grey matter that that’s a non-negotiable. That you are going to go and do the work. That you’re going to put yourself in the situation. That you’re going to grow your way through it.

The people who are on the fitness yo-yo; those who go until they reach the edge of their comfort zone and then they stop exercising until they reach the bottom of their comfort zone—when they are fed up with their lack of fitness—and then they start getting in shape again… And on and on and on they go, bouncing within the walls of their comfort zone. They are always in that narrow window of growth.

To break through that window, to break through to the other side, to get the true success and the long-term health and fitness, you have got to push yourself to show up on the times when you feel like you want to take a break! Even showing up in a way that’s gentle on your body is still showing up.

Sometimes you just have to remember that doing something smaller is way more important than skipping. If it’s a scheduled day, if it’s a planned day, if you have a workout that you’re supposed to be doing, regardless of the type of workout, if it’s your day to workout and you feel like taking a break… I strongly suggest that you SHOW UP ANYWAY!

How Your Unconscious Mind Controls Your Health and Fitness

Share

Do You Know How Your Unconscious Mind Shapes Your Health and Fitness?

Your unconscious mind is massively important when it comes to what’s going on in your life, especially what’s going on when it comes to your health and fitness. Your unconscious mind is quite literally the storehouse for all the beliefs you’ve ever created, adopted, inherited, etc. throughout your life.

If any of those beliefs fail to serve you, then you’re going to struggle in that area of life. If any of those beliefs are disempowering about your health and fitness, then your results will match your beliefs more than they will ever match your desires.

What do you do about that? How do you get your results to start matching your desires?

You Want Your Results to Match Your Desires? Change Your Beliefs!

The Way You Get Your Results to Start Matching Your Desires is to Change Your Unconscious Beliefs

Your beliefs control your actions. They control your results. Your beliefs control what you see, what you hear, what you think. Two people can walk away from the same situation with vastly different interpretations (or personal meanings about the event). This happens all the time.

For example. I was watching a show once where they were demonstrating how the way a question is phrased influences the belief of the person responding to the question. They set it up by having a car run a stop sign and T-bone another car. They had a police officer there asking the witnesses what they saw happen. The officer asked half of the people, “How fast was the car was going when it slammed into the other car?” The other half of the witnesses were asked, “What speed was the car going when it hit the parked car?”

The people who were asked how fast the car was going when it slammed into the other car, gave answers that were 10 to 15 mph higher than the other group because the words “Fast” and “Slammed” influenced their unconscious minds to believe the car was traveling at a higher rate of speed. While the question, “What speed was the car traveling when it hit the parked car?” was more neutral and let them more fairly judge what speed the car was traveling.

That’s the same type of thing you’ll get when your beliefs match up with what your desires are, you’ll get results that match what you want because you’ll believe it’s possible and your unconscious mind will work to make your beliefs match your reality. When your beliefs are different than your desires, then your results are going to be different than what you want.

In the book, “The Ten Seeds of Greatness.” By Denis Waitley, there is a section that talks about the power of the mind. They hypnotized some very strong men—weightlifters, powerlifters, etc.—and they gave them the suggestion that a book, that was lying on the floor, weighed 5lbs more than the maximum each man could lift. When the men were brought out of hypnosis, they tried and tried to lift the book but couldn’t pick it up. They also measured the muscle contractions and found that the opposing muscle groups were resisting the attempts to lift the book with about 5lbs more force than the muscles being used to try to lift the book.

That’s an example of the unconscious mind making a belief reality.

So, if your unconscious mind believes that you are healthy and fit, then your unconscious mind will help you create the long term results necessary to experience health and fitness in your life!

When your unconscious minds believes that you are healthy and fit, it will work to make it reality!

If your unconscious mind believes otherwise…that’s when the other results come in. And if you wonder what your unconscious mind currently believes, just look at the results you’re getting. Are you becoming healthier and more fit every day or are you either stagnate or worse, sliding the other way?

If you’re currently getting results that are less than what you want with your health and fitness, it’s because some belief in your unconscious mind is counter to what you’re working to accomplish.

How do You Change The Beliefs That are Failing to Serve You?

You can start by taking about 10 minutes before you go to sleep at night and visualize yourself with the health and fitness that you want. Visualize it as if it is already true. Allow yourself to feel how wonderful it feels to have that level of health and fitness in your life. Allow yourself to play out a scene where you play out all of the wonderful things that come from having that degree of health and fitness.

As you do this more and more, your unconscious mind will start to believe that this is what’s going on and it will start doing everything in its considerable power to bring those results to pass.

Starting today, figure out where you want to be and as you’re drifting off to sleep, paint that perfect picture, that vision in your mind, as you’re drifting off, of what it’s like to have the health, the fitness, the results that you want and to have them now. Start doing this, every night as you’re drifting off to sleep. Make sure you’re thinking in totally positive terms, as you’re feeling it, experiencing it, playing it out in your mind as if it is already true now.

Do this for 30 days and watch what happens!

The Power of Your Beliefs

Share

Your Beliefs Shape Your Life

Your beliefs are critical to your success

We all have beliefs. Some of these beliefs support our success and some don’t. Beliefs that work against us are commonly referred to as “Limiting Beliefs” and we’ll use that definition here. But in truth all beliefs are limiting in the sense that they cut off other paths and that limits future choices. The trick is discovering what beliefs are limiting your success and what ones aren’t. To do that you must know what your goals are. Once you know your destination you can better understand whether your beliefs are limiting you or supporting you.

A limiting belief for one person might be a perfectly appropriate belief for another. The difference is the context of the belief in relation to the person’s life and career goals. For instance: The belief that you’re capable (or worthy) of making 1 million a year in personal income might be limiting to the person who is striving to make 2 million (or more) a year while simultaneously being an appropriate and supportive belief for the individual who is happy receiving an income of 1 million annually.

Why Do Your Beliefs Matter?

Limiting beliefs get in the way of your successYour unconscious mind works tirelessly to make sure your life is aligned with your beliefs. Your beliefs about yourself form your identity. This includes your beliefs about how much money you can and should earn, what type of career or profession you can and should have, the quality of your relationships, what you do and don’t deserve, etc. This means your unconscious mind works day and night to make sure your life (personal reality) matches these beliefs and is true to your identity.

Discovering the beliefs you’ve formed, that are holding you back, is critical to your long term success. Once you know what these are you can work to supplant them with beliefs that support your goals.

There are many methods for changing, overriding, or removing limiting beliefs. Popular methods include:

  • Daily Affirmations & Incantations
  • Practice new habits for 21+ days
  • Guided Meditation
  • Self-Hypnosis and Guided Hypnosis
  • Creating goals and reviewing daily
  • Consciously changing self-talk to support new beliefs
  • Removing negative influences from your life
  • Sheer grit and determination
  • These all work—but only as hard as you do and they require time and determination to create, override, or remove the old beliefs.

I’ve used each of these methods with varying degrees of success over the past 11+ years. In the past 1.5 years I’ve changed my tactics to include Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Coaching. The results are phenomenal.

NLP coaching allows for the use of techniques that create near-instant and lasting change and—in essence—install the new belief or behavior. There are various forms of NLP coaching. Some use classic NLP techniques while others draw on expanded tool kits—that incorporate additional techniques derived from the synthesis of NLP and other modalities.

I’ve studied and been trained in classic NLP, both in person and using self-study, throughout my life, and I’ve had multiple in-depth boot-camp style trainings in what I’ll call expanded NLP in the past 2 years. In my opinion the expanded NLP is far superior because it offers greater flexibility in technique and allows the practitioner to achieve faster results in self and clients. (I used classic NLP in my communication over the past 11+ years but never achieved the profound, even exponential, results in myself that I’ve experienced since learning and applying expanded NLP.)

The true secret is applying your craft. Many people know the expanded NLP style that I have learned, and as with most things, relatively few of those who know the science and art—because it’s both—actually apply their knowledge directly in their own lives on a regular basis. I propose that to effectively use NLP when coaching others an NLP coach must actively use NLP on themselves as a way of life. This includes both self-work and having a coach to help with the blind spots.

NLP coaching is a quick and effective way to identify and either remove or modify limiting beliefs. It’s like laser surgery, getting right to the core issue and healing it. Why waste time with slower methods? You want to take fast, decisive action and feel good about your choice. So schedule your free consultation today.
